The study was performed to observe the responses and to access dental fear or anxiety after nitrous oxide inhalation analgesia. The responses included were pulse rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and the threshold to electric pulp stimulator. The subjects for this study were 24 children (boys 11, girls 13) visiting Dept. of pedodontics in Seoul National University Hospital who were suitable for the medical and dental ¡¯standard¡¯ in this study. The obtained results were as follows ; 1. There were stastically significant decrease in pulse rate after exposure to nitrous oxide. (p<0.01) 2. There were statistically significant decrease in systolic and diastolic blood pressure after exposure to nitrous oxide. (p<0.01) 3. As the concentration of nitrous oxide was increased, the sensitivity of deciduous tooth to electric stimulus was decreased. 4. There were decrease in fear and anxiety of pediatric dental patient after exposure to nitrous oxide.
